About Me
First off, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in the small town of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. I attended University of Maryland in College Park, played women’s field hockey and graduated in 1988. My biggest highlight from there was winning the NCAA Division 1 National Championship title and being invited to the White House and meeting former President of the United States Ronald Reagan. From there, I moved to New York City and groomed dogs for a few years, worked on some movie sets and during that time I met my next boss, and worked for a music management company featuring our biggest act pop singer Michael Bolton. I was fortunate enough to play on his traveling softball team the Bolton Bombers, it was a great lifetime experience.
When I turned 30 years old I realized I wanted to get out of the big city and moved to Florida, closer to family, and turned to professional golf. I played on the ladies former Futures Tour for 2 years. I focused on golf for three years and in the process of going to Florida for the winter and back to Pennsylvania in the summer for a coach, I fell in love with a farmer ! I drove the John Deere and was hooked on farming ! We married in Pennsylvania and have a son. Feeling the pressure of urban sprawl, we moved from Pennsylvania to our home now in Allerton, Iowa. We love it here, talk about wide open spaces ! We farm just under 1000 acres and have no problem with traffic out here.
Wanting to not miss anything my boy was involved in I decided to pursue real estate, and got my license almost 17 years ago. After two years of working for someone else, I thought this is something I could do on my own. Hoping to get ahead, I am now Owner/Broker of Hicks Realty, L.L.C. Started in May of 2008.
Quite a bit of jumping around, but sometimes that’s what you have do to find that ultimate goal of success and happiness. Real Estate, and working for myself, gives me the opportunity to coach the Wayne Community Schools girls and boys Varsity Golf teams, watch or coach all of my sons activities, and run the John Deere combine in the fall. Going out on my own was one of the best things I have ever done !
